Favor TechConsulting, LLC (FTC) is seeking an Information Technology (IT) Technical Writer with experience producing in a federal government project environment.

This individual will gather, document, and organize requirements while staying compliant according to the specific project’s processes, policies, and procedures. They will be responsible for creating written specifications and other materials in support of this specific project.

It is required that this individual be able to provide proven working experience in technical writing of software documentation. In addition, they must possess the ability to deliver high quality documentation paying showing keen attention to detail. They will also have to have the ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and produce digestible content for the general public. Lastly but not limited to, this individual will need to have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic familiarity with software development lifecycle. Knowledge of health IT or the healthcare software environment is highly desired.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Technical Writer providing senior level IT writing support services
  • Create and update on an annual basis, or as needed, technical, procedural, and agreement documentation, such as SOPs, Memorandums For Record (MFRs), EXSUMs, Operating Level Agreements (OLAs), Memorandums Of Agreement (MOAs), Memorandums Of Understanding (MOUs), information papers, briefings, governance documentation, policies, and procedures
  • Provide broad-based technical editing and writing skills used to identify and correct grammatical and formatting errors ensuring documents conform to the appropriate template
  • Utilize knowledge of current information technology systems and services pertaining to directory services, enterprise management, server management, storage, backups, operational security, database administration, change management, issue escalation, application patching, updates, and application delivery
  • Use appropriate and/or create document templates and style guides typically used with the management of information systems
  • Utilize word processing and desktop publishing software applications to produce required technical documentation and process flowcharts
  • Efficiently communicate in written and verbal forms with technicians, project managers, leadership, and high-level customers, to obtain and deliver accurate information in the production of artifacts and documents
  • Transform technical jargon into fluid, organized, cohesive, and comprehensible documents
  • Confer with technical subject matter experts, leadership, and other individuals to produce required technical documentation

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Public Relations, Journalism, Professional/Business/Creative Writing, English Literature, Information Technology, Computer Science or related discipline
  • (2+) Two years of relevant hands-on experience providing technical writing support
  • Industry specific, Information Technology or Technical Writing Certification(s) desired but are not required for consideration for this opportunity
  • May be requested to provide writing sample(s) and/or a portfolio if selected for an interview
